Greek Soccer Squad named

Greece coach Otto Rehhagel has named Panathinakos striker Dimitris Papadopoulos in his Euro 2004 squad.

The forward missed two months of the season through injury but was still the second-highest scorer in the Greek league with 17 goals.

Rehhagel excluded Eintracht Frankfurt striker Yannis Amanatidis, who had been recalled for earlier friendlies.

And he resisted pressure to include Olympiakos' Ieroklis Stoltidis and Monaco's Akis Zikos.

Otherwise, Rehhagel kept his word and named most of the players who earned Euro 2004 qualification by winning their final six matches.

He had said earlier this year that the majority of players who topped Group Six in qualifying would go to Portugal.

The squad will leave on 28 May for a friendly against Poland and a final training camp in Switzerland.

Greece play their first Euro 2004 match against hosts Portugal on 12 June - the opening day of the tournament - followed by matches against Spain and Russia.
